Falcon Newscast

Fifth-grade students have the exciting opportunity to create a monthly school newscast that is shared with the entire school community. Working in small groups of three, students collaborate and take ownership of the creative process from start to finish.

Students interview classmates from kindergarten through fifth grade, designing their own interview questions and thoughtful follow-up questions. They take turns serving as reporters and camera operators while recording in front of a green screen, gaining hands-on experience in media production and communication.

Using WeVideo, students edit their footage by adding backgrounds, adjusting sound, incorporating transitions, and refining their final product. The completed newscast highlights student voices across the school and is shared with the entire community. This project provides fifth graders with a meaningful opportunity to demonstrate leadership, collaboration, creativity, and digital literacy while contributing to a shared school experience.
