Physical Education

I have taught at Flatirons Elementary School since 2008.  I was born here in Boulder and grew up in Nederland.  I participated in many sporting activities growing up, but focused most of my time and energy on alpine ski racing.  I completed my B.A. at the University of Colorado at Boulder in Psychology and Elementary Education, and did my student teaching in first grade.  I went on to get a M.S. in Sport and Exercise Science: Sport Pedagogy and Physical Education.  I also spent 8 years coaching for Eldora Mountain Ski Club.  I look forward to a fun, healthy and active year!

The Physical Education program at Flatirons Elementary School is based on the Boulder Valley School District (BVSD) Physical Education content standards and curriculum.  The BVSD Physical Education standars are modeled after the Colorado content standards for physical education.  The BVSD content standards are:
    1. Movement competence and understanding.
    2. Physical and personal wellness.
    3. Emotional and social wellness.
    4. Prevention and risk management.
One thing you can do to help your student be safe and responsible in P.E. (Standard 4) is ensure they wear appropriate footwear to P.E.  Boots, shoes with heels, flip-flops, sandals, Crocs, and open toed shoes are NOT safe to wear in P.E.  Shoes that stay snug on the foot and provide support and good traction are best.  The P.E. schedule is posted above so you and your student know which days are P.E. days.

Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  I look forward to a fun, healthy and active year!
