    Maker Fair Notes

    • The Maker Fair celebrates MAKERS!  — what they create, the materials they use, the teamwork and problem solving that occurs, creativity!

    • The Maker Fair is a non-competitive event that is open to all Flatirons students.

    • Students may work independently or together on a team.

    • Projects may be interactive or display only.

    • Projects must be student-directed.

    • NEW: Food or drinks may be displayed but not consumed by anyone.

      • For example: Make a cake and bring to school to “show off”!

    • Students are encouraged to be resourceful and use recyclable materials

    • Students need to write a short description of their project to add to their display at the Maker Fair. The description needs to include a project title, list of materials used and a brief summary of the purpose of the project.

    • Be sure to follow the Flatirons Elementary Safety Guidelines (the front office has paper copies).


      • 2:30 Project brought to gym for set up.

      • 12:45-2:30 Family and Classroom Viewing – Students’ projects will be on display. Students will be standing at their project during the first 15 minutes of their classroom time, for the second 15 minutes students can view other projects

          • 12:45-1:15: Kindergarten

          • 1:00-1:30: 1-2 Learning Community: Crawford

          • 1:15-1:45: 1-2 Learning Community: Defries

          • 1:30-2:00: 1-2 Learning Community: Spear

          • 1:45-2:15: 3-4 Learning Community: Schaefer

          • 2:00-2:30: 3-4 Learning Community: Spear

          • 2:15-2:45: 3-4 Learning Community: Ines

          • 2:00-2:30: 5th grade

      • 2:30: Students are required to pick up their projects.

    Brush, Paint, Tin, Tool, ...

    • All projects will be formally presented to classmates in students’ classrooms after the Maker Fair.
