RISE ILC Autism Program
Flatirons Elementary is proud to be home to a RISE Intensive Learning Center (ILC) for students with autism, now in its third year. RISE—Reaching Independence through Structured Environments—is designed for students with autism whose academic skills are at or above grade level and who benefit from structured support to address areas such as regulation, anxiety, and social-emotional needs while accessing general education curriculum.
Our RISE program typically serves 8-10 students in kindergarten through 5th grade and is supported by highly trained staff, including our special education teacher, five paraeducators, related service providers, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) through theBoulder Valley School District. Instruction is guided by each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) and focuses on building independence, communication, and success across academic and social settings.
Across BVSD, many schools host one type of Intensive Learning Center program. We feel fortunate that Flatirons can offer RISE as part of our inclusive school community, ensuring students receive the support they need while remaining connected to peers and the broader school experience.
