5th Grade
Meet Our Fifth Grade Teacher
Welcome to 5th Grade!
Step into a classroom where learning inspires action and curiosity drives discovery. Here, students don't just learn about the world; they engage with it. Through projects like our Wax Museum of Inventors, mock court trials, and Micro:bit coding in partnership with CU Boulder, students connect knowledge to creativity, critical thinking, and innovation.
Students delve into U.S. history, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and explore big ideas in social justice and advocacy, learning how their voices can make a meaningful difference. Using Thinking Maps and Depth & Complexity tools, they organize their ideas, make connections, and think critically across subjects. The RIASEC framework helps learners explore their strengths and interests, while Depth of Knowledge strategies encourage them to ask bold questions, solve meaningful problems, and tackle real-world challenges with confidence.
Social-emotional learning is woven into everything we do, creating a classroom community built on intent and impact. Our field trips and experiences, like the YMCA of the Rockies, help students extend their learning beyond the classroom through teamwork, service, and leadership.
In our classroom, every student is encouraged to think deeply, act compassionately, and make connections that matter. Together, we're building curious minds, kind hearts, and active citizens ready to make a difference in the world.
