The Flatirons Scholastic Book Fair is coming!

Shop at the Book Fair for holiday gifts and to support our students!  In the past this has been our library’s largest fundraiser of the year—thank you in advance for your support!

Teachers will have wish baskets full of wonderful books they’d like to add to their classroom libraries.

Visit our Book Fair website to set up an eWallet, a safe and cash-free way for your child to shop.  Volunteers help make this event a huge success. Click here to volunteer at the Flatirons Book Fair!

Please come have coffee and bagels in our maker space. We will show off the space and talk about cool things happening in our iLab.  We love our iLab, and have a long-term goal to ripple this learning out beyond this singular space so inquiry and exploration are a foundational cornerstone of the work we do at FLE.  We want it to become more than a space and isolated time and even more about instructional design and delivery. Andrea Chen, our incredibly creative Teacher Librarian will be there to talk about lessons she is teaching in this great space!

This year's open enrollment window runs from November 1, 2023, through January 9, 2024.  At Flatirons Elementary, we will host two daytime and two nighttime events.

Our daytime and evening events will incorporate student-led tours and a multi-age student panel. What better way to experience Flatirons Elementary than through the eyes of the students who attend? We are very proud of our student leadership.

Our evening events will take prospective families through rotations of music, art, P.E., and iLab to give them a taste of what specials are like here.  They will also connect with other prospective friends and will get a taste of Flatirons.

Daytime Event: November 13, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Daytime Event: December 7, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Night Event: November 2, 6:00-7:30 p.m.
Night Event: November 9, 6:00-7:30 p.m.

District News

BVSD Board of Education logo

Aligning with a trend for school districts across the nation, the Boulder Valley School District has been in declining enrollment since 2018 and anticipates a gradual decline in enrollment in future years. This drop follows a declining overall birth rate and a growing tendency for families to delay having children. In BVSD, the high cost of housing coupled with limited housing stock inhibits the ability of families with young children to live in our district. COVID-related enrollment loss accelerated the anticipated decline dramatically.
