Winter Bike and Walk to School Day: January 27, 2016

Walking map for Flatirons. The Walk and Roll committee encourages students to take alternative transportation to and from school for their own health and the health of the environment.  It's also plain fun - we've even had students arrive on pogo sticks and stilts.  Our motto is "Everything Counts!"  If you live too far away to walk or bike, consider bus riding, carpooling and even parking your car one or two blocks away from school.  We have ongoing programs, and special events throughout the year.  To volunteer, please contact Amy Love at 303-527-0451 or amyelove@gmail.com.

     International Walk to School Day

Flatirons Ride & Stride rendezvous’ in front of the Justice Center at 6th and Canyon.  Bus riding groups will drop off at 8:00 am to walk to school.  Join your children, volunteers and friends there by 7:59 am to celebrate walking and health on International Walk to School Day.  Everyone is welcome!  Your dog will love it too!  It's fall weather so dress accordingly and wear those walking shoes!  Students will not be marked tardy if we are a little late to school.

Please call or email Amy Love if you have any questions or are able to volunteer to help walk students to school from the Justice Center at 6th & Canyon.  We will meet there at 7:55 a.m.

     WayToGo – Schoolpool

Are you interested in having your children carpool, walk, bike, or ride the RTD bus to and from school with students from other families in your school?

WayToGo – Schoolpool, a program of the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) is once again providing us with our own Transportation Network. It's free and there is no obligation to participate.

Click on Flatirons Link to get started.  Using this secure website, you can register to find and contact interested families in your school. You can register with your home intersection instead of home address. Way to Go's only goal is to help reduce traffic congestion and pollution, so rest assured your information will only be shared with Flatirons families--no third parties will ever see it.

For more program information please click on:  BVSD Schoolpool.

     Walk or Ride Year Round

Park your car at least one or two blocks away and walk students to and from school.  This relieves traffic congestion in front of  the school, making it safer for everyone.

Make it fun with a bike, scooter or skateboard, or designate meeting points to Walk and Roll with a group!

Carbon Challenge:  Each morning use alternative transportation (Everything Counts!).  Keep track and and the end of the year calculate how many miles and gallons of gas saved - and all the resulting pollution.
